Hon. Roger Grimes
Minister of Education

Government of Newfoundland and Labrador

“Prior to using WriteAway in the Basic English classes at Holy Heart of Mary High School there was extremely poor attendance and equally poor performance.  WriteAway made a boring course fun with the result that attendance increased dramatically with a significant improvement in performance.  WriteAway 2000 has been provided to the Special Needs Advisors at the Avalon East School Board for recommendation to the schools and pupils of the Board.“

Mr. David Philpott
Principal, Alexander Street School

" The consensus from those who have worked with the program is that most students love it, and the quantity of writing has improved significantly.

The potential for this software is tremendous and we will all benefit from it. "

" The WriteAway program has been able to provide my son with a higher degree of self confidence and self esteem because he can express himself more clearly in writing in his favoured subjects….."

" As a member of a group of teachers who have experimented with this program, I can say that we have only reached the tip of the iceberg in knowing what it can do for students of differing abilities."

"...tutoring with this program has been the primary influence in getting this student to write anything..."

Rick Aldington
Principal

Byron Somerset School, London, ON

" The purpose of this letter is to inform you of students in our school who are experiencing great success using WriteAway 2000.

Students who have low self-esteem and poor academic skills do not perceive themselves as positive and independent learners.  This program offers them the security they need to launch into writing and motivate them to attempt more.

We have many students, some who are identified with a Learning Disability, who are using this program to their advantage and feeling very successful about their writing.  Students with a Learning Disability often have difficulty communicating, reading, writing, and processing language, but this software allows them an opportunity to attempt writing without the added pressures of correct spelling and the ability to read well.

We would like to make a request on behalf of …… to purchase this software for ….  This child has been formally identified through the IPRC process and would continue to benefit using this software at home for homework purposes.

In closing, on behalf of these students, I would like to thank you for your continued support of this software.”

And the kids* say……………………………

It's cool.

It rocks.

It's fun.

It's awesome.

It's good for kids to read.

The voice is funny.

It helps!  It spells for us.

It reads lists - it's fun.

It has some tricks.

It talks to us and tells if you pronounce words right.
